Learn About the Process of Boat Detailing at EZN Detail

Professional Exterior Detailing Packages Included

You will notice that two of our boat detailing packages here at EZN include our Maintenance Exterior Detail and Standard Exterior Detail packages. This is an area where boat and auto detailing cross over, as we implement the same hand wash and other various detailing services to get off the grime that collects on your hull and other surfaces. Now, we have a clean slate to inspect the physical condition of your paint and other exterior areas.

Multi-Stage Surface Polishing

Many see this as a stand-alone paint correction service in the auto detailing realm, but here at EZN of Saraland, Alabama, boat buffing and boat detailing go hand-in-hand. There are certain levels of heavy hull contamination that must be eliminated by our boat buffing processes. Then, the stages of paint correction are implemented on your boat's painted panels to remove any scratches, nicks, or stains. This step in our boat detailing process is extremely rejuvenating!

Vacuuming and Cleaning Your Interior

There is a different process to detailing the interior of a boat, and it all begins with vacuuming up all residual dirt and dust that loosely latches to seats and your dashboard. Once we vacuum all the obvious and hard-to-reach areas, we then decontaminate your boat’s interior with exceptional precision and attention to detail. This is a requirement, as even though many boats may have some interior protection against the elements, just as many are fully exposed to them. We have to watch for contamination that is also common to your boat's exterior.

Upgrade to Boat Ceramic Coating Package

Once your vessel has been detailed, it is ready for a ceramic coating to be installed for future protection! Here at EZN, we have few protection options of ceramic coating formulas, hand applying each one to every exposed surface to enhance hydrophobicity, reduce drag on your boat’s hull, keep it free of stains and dangerous contamination, and even give it impeccable paint color richness and an unbeatable surface shine safe under the Alabama sun!

Common Boat Detailing Myths - EZN Detail Has the Answers

Myth 1: Protection can be applied over oxidation

There is no better time to apply a long term protection after a polishing or gel coat restoration. But, the question does come up, can ceramic coatings or protectants be applied to something that has not been decontaminated. The reality is that putting protection on a contaminated or oxidized vehicle is not an ideal bonding surface for a polymer/ceramic coating and reduces the longevity of the coating severely. In this case, we always recommend polishing prior to a coating.

Myth 2: A good wax is just as good as a Ceramic Coating

Waxes are made up of natural materials, such as plant oils, carnuba, and beeswax. All of which break down over time when exposed to the elements. This means that waxes need to be reapplied every few weeks or months, depending on how often the car is driven. Ceramic coatings, however, offer a longer lasting protective layer as they are applied as a liquid polymer that is then cured and bonded with the boat's gelcoat. This creates an extremely durable barrier that can last for years (in comparison to months with a wax) before it needs to be reapplied again.

Myth 3: Any cleaning materials can be used on a boat

Specific marine detailing products are used by our staff to insure we are not jeopardizing the gel coat, stainless steel or other materials that can be harmed. Additionally, items like scour scrubbers and ammonia products can actually damage the vehicles surface or interior, so we avoid common household chemicals to make sure your boat stays in fantastic shape.
